"dancing, romancing and mind expansion exercises" DAGBLADET ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ POPUL VUH night, LONDON Dates: February 25th, April 8th, 15th, 22nd 2010 Location: Shoreditch Church, Shoreditch High Street, Shoreditch, E1 6JN A Celebration of.. is a series of events produced by Sonic360, each series focusing on a chosen legendary recording artist and their body of work. A hand-picked selection of albums from the artist’s catalogue will be played over a series of weekly sessions, 2 albums per night, at the magical 200 year old structure of Shoreditch Church, London. Artists and titles are chosen on their suitability to the Church’s wonderful acoustics and ambience. The album playbacks will be accompanied by candle lighting to result in a completely awe-inspiring experience. The first series of sessions will be A Celebration of Popol Vuh, the German ‘Krautrock’ group which was founded by Florian Fricke along with Holger Trulzsch (percussion) and Frank Fiedler (electronics). 2010 marks the 40th anniversary of the group’s formation. Their music incorporates both electronic and acoustic instrumentation inspired by ethnic and religious music and evokes a deeply spiritual and introspective response in the listener, a dream-like soundscape perfectly suited to the Church environment. We believe the music will truly come alive in this setting.
